Thanks to the Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen), the KenGen Foundation, the Ministry of Education and Better Globe Forestry, an exciting afforestation programme dubbed the ‘Green Initiative Challenge’ (GIC) is going on in primary and secondary schools in Embu and Machakos County in Kenya. GIC aims to create environmental awareness by encouraging and enabling schools to actively participate and compete in developing small forests and woodlots for multiple benefits.
